The speakers highlighted clinical data from the company's lead program, bordoxolone methyl, a first-in-class Antioxidant Inflammation Modulator (AIM) in late-stage development for chronic kidney disease. Reata's clinical development plan for bardoxolone methyl, including an update on the ongoing Phase 2b/3 trial in Stage 3b and 4 chronic kidney disease patients, was also presented, along with upcoming milestones and opportunities.

CKD is a progressive loss of kidney function over a period of months or years, which can be caused by a number of conditions, including diabetes and high blood pressure. As kidney disease gets worse, waste products can build to high levels in the blood and patients may develop complications like high blood pressure, anemia (low blood count), weak bones, poor nutritional health and nerve damage.
