Reata to Present at Jefferies 2010 Global Life Sciences Conference

Presentation scheduled for Thursday, June 10th at 1 p.m. EST

IRVING, TX - June 9, 2010 -- Reata Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company developing novel anti-inflammatory agents for intractable disease, announces that the company's Vice President of Finance, Jason Wilson, will be presenting a company overview at the Jefferies 2010 Global Life Sciences Conference on Thursday, June 10th at 1:00 p.m., EST at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York, NY.

The presentation will focus primarily on the company's lead program, bardoxolone methyl, a first-in-class Antioxidant Inflammation Modulator (AIM). This agent is in pivotal studies in patients with chronic kidney disease and type 2 diabetes. Mr. Wilson will present the results of the company's successfully completed Phase 2 studies, in which the drug produced significant improvements in the glomerular filtration rate and several other measures of kidney function. Progressive decline in kidney function results in end-stage renal disease, which requires dialysis or a kidney transplant. Mr. Wilson will also discuss Reata’s development plans for the molecule, along with the company's commercial strategy and corporate goals.

About Chronic Kidney Disease

CKD is a progressive loss of kidney function over a period of months or years, which can be caused by a number of conditions, including diabetes and high blood pressure. As kidney disease gets worse, waste products can build to high levels in the blood and patients may develop complications like high blood pressure, anemia (low blood count), weak bones, poor nutritional health and nerve damage. CKD also increases the risk of having heart and blood vessel disease. As kidney disease progresses, it eventually leads to kidney failure, requiring dialysis or a kidney transplant.
